Hosting problems: Regarding uploading plugins or new themes to Your wordpress You can get problems depending on the provider You use. Here are some of my experiences:
CHMOD : Some hosting companies uses strict security policies that wont allow You to upload anything unless You change the permission for CHMOD. Many conflicts can be solved if You ask Your provider to change the permission during the time you install your stuff and some providers have even a user interface for this so you can do that Yourself.
Files sorted by dates : Some hosting companies does not allow to upload into files named by dates. In those cases You need to check the settings under “Miscellaneous Settings”

“Newspage” is a plugin to provide Your site with RSS news feeds – Be aware to set the cache to CHMOD 777 or You will get a failure.
“Send2Press” another news feeder plugin , good for generel news
“Exclude Page”* Just discovered a “must have” plugin for wordpress. If You are strugling with troubles regarding the menu including every new page You create this is just what You need to exclude page for appearing in Your menu.

Back up Your WordPress !
Back up is offen an aspect that are some of the last things people are concerned about when they are in the developing process and have enough to do with keeping up with all the new “developing” things that have to be considered when You work with in a new project. Never the less its also one of the most “learning by doing” issues on the web and something that many even experienced developers now and then face to late. Well loosing valuable data and then have to work twice the time can somehow be avoided. Well even a note like this might not help much on this problem – we just say yes yes i will note this right ? – and then continue our business as usual.
